Established over 100 years ago, Textile Bag & Sack Co Ltd is one of New Zealand’s larger suppliers of printed Jute and Hessian bags, woven Polypropylene bags, Woolpacks, Bulk bags, woven and knitted textile fabrics made from Polypropylene and high density Polyethylene yarns.
Textile Bag & Sack Ltd was established in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1907 by Joyce Bros Pty Ltd of New South Wales. The company operated from the same site until 1989 when the Company relocated to the current address of 55 Byron Street. The Company supplied Jute bags imported from India and manufactured Cotton flour bags and other associated textile products.
In 1939, the Company was purchased by the then Manager and one other staff member, remaining in the same family ownership until the mid 1980’s, when an alliance was entered into with Pope Packaging.
Pope Packaging (Australia), with its beginnings over 50 years ago in Adelaide, South Australia with Multiwall Paper Bag and Film Plastic Bag manufacturing plants through out Australia and the USA is also a large importer of flexible packaging products. An associate Company was established in Sri Lanka approximately 25 years ago to manufacture onion bags with high quality printed labels. The Sri Lankan factory has expanded significantly and is now manufacturing a wide range of woven products including: weed control cloth, windbreak cloth, laminated cloths, ventilated bulk bags and Geotextile cloths.
Through its many years of involvement in the New Zealand market, Textile Bag & Sack Company Ltd has built up long standing partnership arrangements with several high quality overseas Suppliers, ensuring quality product performance and service.
Textile Bag & Sack Company Ltd has two warehouse locations in Christchurch and Auckland.
Textile Bag & Sack Co has rebranded to Pope Textile Bag & Sack Co in 2018.
